About This Project
Edward Curtis is known internationally as one of the most important photographers and ethnographers of all time. Less known are his roots in the Seattle area, and the vital role Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest played in inspiring his work.
2018 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edward Curtis. Curtis in Seattle is a website and film series covering Curtis-related sesquicentennial events in the Seattle area. The film series will culminate in a 60-minute documentary premiering on February 19, 2019 at the Seattle Central Library.
This project is being produced independently by Seattle filmmaker Vaun Raymond, with volunteer help from many local organizations and individuals, and partial funding from King County 4Culture.
