About This Project
Edward Curtis is known internationally as one of the most important photographers and ethnographers of all time. Less known are his roots in the Seattle area, and the vital role Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest played in inspiring his work.
2018 was the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edward Curtis. Curtis in Seattle is a website and film series covering Curtis-related sesquicentennial topics and events in the Seattle area. Our Films page contains numerous films ranging from short subject pieces to complete lectures and a feature-length documentary entitled Curtis Comes Back to Seattle.
This project is being produced independently by Seattle filmmaker Vaun Raymond, with volunteer help from many local organizations and individuals, and partial funding from King County 4Culture. You can contact the filmmaker at firstname.lastname@example.org.
